You will receive your full time for your massage. 60 minutes means exactly that - 60 minutes of hands-on massage
Please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to the start of the session to go over intake together. If this will be your first session with me, please arrive slightly earlier.
I apply all modalities in my repertoire in whatever way I believe will benefit you, the client, the most. This is why I have singular pricing for all of my sessions. I take a scientific approach to my work, and am constantly staying up-to-date about new information regarding massage. Below is a list of all modalities I have been trained in and may use during our session together. Please read them over so you know what to expect.
Swedish Massage is what you would normally think of as a "spa"-like massage. Long, fluid strokes to help increase blood flow and induce a sense of relaxation. It can also be used to help reduce swelling, as well as speed up recovery from some injuries. An extremely valuable modality that will normally be applied to every session.
Deep Tissue Massage is probably one of the most misunderstood modalities in my opinion. It is not meant to cause pain, nor to "get the knots out". Deep Tissue should be used in cases of extreme muscle tension in which the muscles won't react to lighter strokes. I use very slow, deep, methodical strokes that will get the nervous system to respond. No massage should cause pain, and this modality is no exception. I will often use this modality in areas where the muscles are not responding to other modalities.
Acupressure is a modality that uses specific pressure applied to specific areas of the body to help relieve muscle pain, increase blood flow, and induce relaxation. It can be used to help relieve trigger points that tend to be painful and cause issues in the surrounding areas. Acupressure, along with TPT (Trigger Point Therapy) can be used to effectively relieve trigger points, along with general muscle tension. I will use this modality in most sessions at specific points on the body
Trigger Point Therapy is a specific technique used in the relief of trigger points. To understand this modality better we need to understand what a trigger point is. A trigger point is a neuromuscular point where a muscle and a nerve meet together leading to irritation, pain, lack of blood flow, etc...
The use of this technique will include communication between the client and therapist. The use of deep, circular motion at the exact trigger point, along with holding will be applied. This is a fairly intense technique compared to the rest of the modalities and will only be applied in certain circumstances.
Reflexology is the use of specific pressure applied to the feet and hands to help alleviate pain and tension. It is said the areas of the feet relate to different areas/organs of the body. Whether this is entierly true or not is up for debate, however it, at the very least, can absolutely feel great, and can induce relaxation. I will usually apply this modality to most sessions to some extent. However, if you would like more focus with this, please let me know.
Also known as "Lymphatic Massage" this modality is used to help increase the flow of lymph fluid through the body. My movements are very light compared to other modalities because the lymph vessels are superficial.
I have limited experience with the following modalities, but they are worth mentioning:
I consistently engage in further study to explore more modalities, techniques, and to be
able to offer even more services.
